Driven by the pursuit of Physical Freedom, Founder Anvil Banez created Dennisson to transform his father’s struggle with polio into innovation. Seeing a lack of compact actuation solutions, Dennisson forged a new class of motion technology — AuraFlex — merging advanced material science with photon physics. From its humble beginnings of redefining human movement, its impact continues to grow, with a potential to redefine motion as a whole.

Anvil Serg Bañez

Co-Founder & CEO

Anvil is a Mechanical Engineer and former Engineering Officer in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Inspired by his father’s resilience living with polio, he began developing exoskeleton technology at university, work that evolved into the foundation of Dennisson Technologies. As CEO, Anvil drives the company’s vision, strategy, and partnerships, positioning AURAFLEX™ as the next generation of actuator technology.

Kimberly Bañez

Co-Founder & CTO

Kimberly is a materials scientist and engineer who developed the first AURAFLEX™ prototypes, laying the scientific foundation for Dennisson’s platform. She leads the company’s deep-tech R&D, advancing smart polymers and thin-film actuation, and guiding the transition from lab research into scalable products. Her work ensures Dennisson continues to lead in artificial muscle innovation.

Michael Blackhurst

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Michael has over 30 years of product development experience, progressing from engineering to senior leadership within a global high-growth company. At Dennisson, he oversees internal operations including IP strategy, governance, HR, marketing, and advisory board management. His experience in building strong systems and bringing multiple products to market ensures the platform is built on solid foundations and ready to scale.

Steve Leftly

Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)

Steve is a pioneer in wearable technology and electronic textiles, with more than 20 years of experience commercializing advanced materials. He founded Myovolt, a rehabilitation technology company, and previously developed textile-electronic platforms adopted by Nike, Adidas, and NASA. As CCO, Steve leads Dennisson’s commercial strategy and global market entry, leveraging his network across robotics, automotive, and healthcare to scale AURAFLEX into industry applications.

We collaborate with top universities and labs, employ PhD-level experts in smart polymers and photonics, and have a strategic joint-venture that gives us commercial reach in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
